 A Chronicle of the Moments

순간의 연대기

For me, an act of drawing a line means accumulation of the moment. The series of A Chronicle of the Moments are produced by following procedures; draw long horizontal lines with dry materials on paper and then cut it vertically to a thickness of 1mm pieces or cut it into small pieces of equal sizes and re-paste these pieces to create new display. This newly created display transforms, just like cracking layers of strata, into something different from the past and eventually creates a new formation. Lay down memories by drawing and overlapping lines and the time is accumulated in layers. Looking at the past moment with the eye of the present is to divide memories of the past and draw these pieces out. Segmented lines are reconstructed and newly produced flow from this reconstruction visualizes A Chronicle of the Moments. The series of Stratal Landscape are produced by following procedures; draw landscape with dry materials on paper and then cut it vertically to a thickness of 1mm pieces and re-paste these 1mm pieces to create new display. The intention of my work was to show that a part of moments caught from the memories transforms into a new display. Lost moments and remaining moments are constantly reconstructed in the repetitive flow.
